I think I’ve written here the fact that I’ve yet to make a real living as a writer. Up to now, I’ve worked in many fields: architecture, art, film, education. Not to mention all the entry-level and temp work I’ve done in retail, customer service, banking, etc. I’ve been paid as a writer though, so I can’t complain. Even when paid, I’ve never felt that writing on the job was nearly the effort that teaching demands. Oh, the challenges are there all right, but I think because of the very solitary nature of writing–even when collaborating–I feel the effort is purely on a mental level. Just a thought. What do you think?

Hey nice olivetti.
Do you work on that? I work on a portable.
What kind of things are you working on and where are you located?
No, my friend. The Olivetti is merely a showpiece. In high school one would find me toiling over a typewriter, but these days I’m either typing away on my G5 iMac or my iBook. Other than that, you can find me approximately 200 miles north of Hollywood. Further questions should be directed to my email address, writersasylum@yahoo.com.
